Anyone who keeps rabbits knows that a balanced and varied diet is essential for a long and healthy rabbit life. Besides hay, fresh water, and the occasional piece of fruit, vegetables play a central role in their daily diet.
Today we're introducing you to three popular vegetables that are not only delicious but also really healthy for your bunnies:
Celery is a true all-rounder. Both the stalks and the leaves are well-suited for rabbits. It contains many vitamins (e.g., vitamins C and K), potassium, and calcium – ideal for a strong immune system and healthy teeth.
💡 Tip: Always wash thoroughly and cut into smaller pieces – especially when feeding young rabbits slowly.
Fennel is not only popular with humans, but also with rabbits – and rightly so! The bulb, as well as the fennel leaves, are easily digestible and have a positive effect on digestion.
🐇 Fennel can be particularly helpful for gastrointestinal problems. It also contains plenty of fiber and antioxidants.
Carrots are extremely popular. They have a sweet taste and provide many vitamins, including beta-carotene (a precursor to vitamin A). Even the carrot tops are edible and, for many rabbits, even more popular than the root itself!
⚠️ But beware: Because of their higher sugar content, carrots should be fed in moderation – more as a small reward or treat.
Always introduce new vegetables gradually and pay attention to individual tolerance. Every rabbit is different – observe your pet carefully, especially when changing its diet.
