What is the difference between hemp and coconut mats?
Hemp mats and coconut mats are two different materials that can be used as cage bedding or in other applications.
Here are the main differences between them:
1. Material:
Hemp mats are made from hemp fibers, which are extracted from the hemp plant. These fibers are robust and durable. Hemp is a sustainable material because the hemp plant grows quickly and requires no pesticides or herbicides.
Coconut mats are made from coconut fibers, which are obtained from the outer husk of the coconut. These fibers are also durable and have natural antifungal properties.
2. Texture and grip:
Hemp mats have a relatively soft surface that is comfortable for all rodents, but may offer less grip. The fibers are also very well suited for nest building.

How long does the rodent carpet last?
Depending on how many animals you have in your enclosure and the thickness of the carpet you use (5mm or 10mm), it will last approximately 1-3 weeks. Simply remove the carpet and give it a quick shake. It's also possible to cut out only heavily soiled areas.
Do you just put the mats in the stable, or do you also put bedding on top?
Both are possible. You can use the rodent carpet as a base on the floor and then add bedding on top for nesting. Many customers also use the coconut mats as a base layer and then place the hemp mat on top of them.
Your animals will then build their nest from parts of the hemp mat, so no bedding is necessary.
Do you have to dispose of the mat immediately after use?
If the mat becomes heavily soiled or has been shredded by rodents, it can simply be disposed of in the organic waste bin. The rodent mat is completely compostable and 100% natural.
Is a rodent rug washable?
No, the hemp mats are not washable. You can simply shake them out or cut out the heavily soiled section.
Can the underlay also be used as thermal insulation in winter?
Yes, the carpet is warm and acts like a blanket that rodents like to snuggle into. It's best to use a coconut mat as a base and then place the hemp rodent carpet on top.
How can you cut the rolls?
